From tutoring to cooking and from sports to simply talking continues to draw young people to the Eagle's Nest. Our goal is to establish a stable and secure environment that is consistent in availability. Every night we are open involves dealing with hands-on life issues, from preparing meals (5000 a year) to praying for needs and discussing life strategies through testimony and learning scripture verses.
The Eagle's Nest is a safe place used year round where young people develop life skills, spiritual growth, and a sense of belonging. These are tools to combat the pressures of gangs, suicide, addictions and crime. Many young people have made decisions for Christ. The core group of about 35 are making remarkable changes and over 20 of them now stand in front to lead the group through prayer.
A local pastor visited and emailed this report:
"I enjoyed the interaction with the kids. Many of them looked me up and down and then went on with what they were doing. I had a blast playing football--even at 15 below zero. Michael (age 9) is almost prophetic of what God is raising up in your ministry. He was tough and wiry playing football. He worked with me--an outsider--very comfortably. He sat in front of me during the auditorium time, knowing all the memory verses, full of raw energy. The hook for me was when he prayed up front with Caleb. He prayed with clarity, with confidence in the Word of God and with all his heart. A thought went through my mind while he was talking to the Lord: This young man will be called by God to reach his people--he has the boldness, tenacity, perseverance, in-your-face attitude that God will need to shake the heart of the Red Lake Nation. His name also means "Godly Man". He is becoming his God ordained destiny."
